Hello! So I’m starting a new series for heatless hair styling since most of us heat abusers need something to help us through flat iron rehab. Therefore I will be showcasing tutorials on how to achieve, different curls with a flexi rod set, perm rod set, Bantu knots, braid outs, twist outs and showing you how to style them as well. A a you can tell by the title this will be a flexi-rod set where achieve tight curls! Even though the shrinkage is oh my! It’s a cute style that allows you to forget about the length of your hair for a while.
Step 1: I usually begin on 100% airdried hair. I never set my hair when it’s wet because I feel like if I am prone to less breakage and I achieve better results and definition.
Step 2: I section my hair into five sections: 2 at the front, 1 at the centre and 2 at the back. I also like to give myself a middle part when doing flexi-rod sets such as these because I prefer the look on me.
Step 3: I coat the first section in my leave-in conditioner, Garnier Fructis Hydra-recharge Whipped Moisture which preps my hair for setting great as it is also a mousse.
Step 4: I moisturize a half-inch section of hair using a dime-sized amount of my One N’ Only Argan Oil Curl Cream
Step 5 : I finally seal my hair using my Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Dry Oil and I am ready to set!
Step 6: I place the end of the flexi-rods about 3 inches up from the ends of my hair .
Step 7: I then wrap the ends of my hair backward unto the rod.
Step 8: I begin to spiral my hair unto the rod.
Step 9: I continue to twist the rod until it gets to my roots where O fold it downwards on the opposite side of the curl.
Step 10: If I have any flyaways, using my leave-in mousse, I pass my hand around the rod, in the direction of the curl, to smooth them down.
Step 11: After wrapping all the rods for the thickness and length of my hair, I use 35 blue rods in total. I the. Cover with my satin scarf very loosely to allow my hair air to dry overnight.
Step 12: The next morning I coat my hands in my Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Dry Oil and take down the flexi-rods, unwrapping in the opposite direction of the curl.
My hair after taking down the flexi-rods without separating or fluffing.
And Voila!…. A tight flexi rod set which you can style to your liking.
